Beth Vitucci, DO

Director of Osteopathic Education and Associate Program Director Family Medicine Residency

Beth VitucciA graduate of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Vitucci completed her residency at the former Mercy Suburban Hospital where she became chief resident. Passionate about graduate medical education, she continued on as faculty in the residency and served in a variety of leadership roles including director of osteopathic education and director of medical education at Suburban Community Hospital. Throughout her career she has been dedicated to education and serving the community.

At the national level, Dr. Vitucci has served on several committees for the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians and is an exam question writer for the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians. Dr. Vitucci was excited to join St. Mary Medical Center in 2023 as the director of osteopathic education and associate program director for the Family Medicine Residency. Her faith is integral to the care she provides to the whole family aligning perfectly with Trinity Health values. When she’s not serving our community, she can be found “down the shore” with her husband and four children.

Charmaine Chan, DO

DIO and Director of Osteopathic Education, Nazareth Hospital
Core Osteopathic Faculty, Family Medicine and Internal Medicine Residencies

Charmaine ChanDr. Chan graduated from Vassar College with a degree in anthropology-geography. She worked abroad in Indonesia for two years prior to returning to the U.S., where she worked in multiple health care related positions, including work with the intellectually disabled, quality improvement for Massachusetts Medicaid providers.

She eventually entered medical training at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and did her Family Medicine residency at St. Joseph Medical Center in Reading, Pa. She was a National Health Service scholar and did her service on the Navajo Nation in Shiprock, N.M. She also worked as a civilian physician in the military before returning to Philadelphia as family medicine faculty at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM).

She has worked extensively in the past with National Board of Medical Examiner on various COMLEX evaluations or creation of simulation vignettes. Throughout her medical career, she has integrated OMM into her appointments with patients in both the outpatient and inpatient settings.

Jessica Mayer, DO

Family Medicine Core Faculty and Osteopathic Core Faculty for Family Medicine and Internal Medicine Residency

Jessica MayerFollowing medical school at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Mayer completed her internship in Delaware County/Crozer Chester Hospitals and residency at Mercy Suburban Hospital where she rose through the ranks to lead medical education at both the program and health system level beginning in 2018.

She has a particular clinical interest in pediatrics and joined the program at St. Mary for its mission to provide high quality health care to those facing challenges connecting to the broader health system. When she’s not teaching residents and students, she enjoys knitting, crocheting and travel with family to National Parks or Disney.

Umang Patel, DO

Internal Medicine Program Director and Osteopathic Core Faculty, Internal Medicine Residency

Umang PatelUmang Patel, DO, FACOI, is the current program director at St. Mary Medical Center’s Internal Medicine Residency Program. Prior to this, He served as the associate program director and played a vital role in establishing the foundation for the residency. Dr. Patel earned his medical degree at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at Jefferson Health Northeast. He is board-certified in internal medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists. He serves in various administrative roles in the residency program which include development of curriculum, clinical education for residents, recruiting, and serving on various graduate medical education committees.

Dr. Patel works closely with residents in daily teaching rounds as an academic hospitalist and he was also recognized as one of the Top 40 Physicians under 40 by Pennsylvania Medical Society. His interests include resident teaching along with the business of medicine. He enjoys stock market analysis, fantasy football and exploring new culinary delicacies.

Allison Keenan, DO

Internal Medicine and Osteopathic Core Faculty for Internal Medicine Residency

Allison KeenanAllison Keenan, DO, is currently a hospitalist and part of internal medicine core faculty at St. Mary Medical Center. She earned her medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine after which she completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. She brings with her previous experience in private practice, working in a hybrid model of inpatient and outpatient along with seeing patients in long-term care setting.

Dr. Keenan also has experience of being a physician advisor and expertise in utilization management. She sits on peer review committee and patient safety committee at St. Mary Medical Center and has been part of our internal medicine faculty for the past five years. Her interests lie in patient safety, clinical bedside teaching, and simulation lab. She is an avid runner and a biker. She is a huge Philadelphia Flyers fan and is hoping for a Stanley Cup win soon for the city of Philadelphia.
