Gabriel BrazleThe compassionate and patient-centered nature of Nazareth Hospital’s Gabriel Brazle, RN, is what recently led him to be a recipient of the prestigious DAISY Award. Developed by The DAISY Foundation more than 25 years ago, this recognition program celebrates and thanks nurses for the extraordinary care, kindness and dedication they provide daily.

Brazle, who joined Nazareth in October 2024 and works on the 5th floor Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit, was nominated by a patient. Not only did Brazle connect with this patient on a human level, but he also encouraged them to take positive steps after their hospital stay.

“Gabriel has remarkable people skills, excellent bedside manners and is highly ethical and professional,” says the patient. “We shared personal stories, laughed together and never rushed any care that he provided. If it wasn’t for Gabriel, I would have never agreed to go to rehab and I probably would have never physically improved.”

Nurses may be nominated for the DAISY Award by patients, families or colleagues. All awardees, including Brazle, are celebrated with a certificate, Healer’s Touch Sculpture from Zimbabwe, pin, banner and other memorabilia. They also become eligible for continuing education, professional development and wellbeing benefits.

Brazle’s manager, Lisa Bell, RN, BSN, CMSRN, nurse manager, says, “Gabriel deserves the DAISY Award because he consistently delivers exceptional, patient-centered care to every individual he cares for, every shift. His dedication, compassion and commitment to excellence are evident in all that he does.”
