Jay Jaiswal, MD, Chief Cardiology Fellow

Jay JaiswalI was born in Philadelphia and spent part of my formative years in both the U.S. and Hyderabad, India.

I earned my medical degree from SRM Chennai and completed an enriching Internal Medicine residency at Nazareth Hospital. I have the honor of continuing my medical education at Nazareth Hospital’s prestigious Cardiology Fellowship. This opportunity allows me to not only contribute to the healthcare of the underrepresented community at Nazareth but also to continue indulging in the diverse culinary delights of Philadelphia and stay close to family.

Looking ahead after fellowship, I hope to pursue sub fellowships in Electrophysiology and Imaging with a career focused on clinical practice.

Beyond the realm of medicine, I find joy and balance in practicing karate, playing the piano, attending live concerts, indulging in the art of baking, and satisfying my wanderlust through travel.

Thanh Nguyen, MD

Than NguyenI was born in Vietnam and moved to the United States during my high school years. For the past fifteen years, I have proudly called Philadelphia my home. I earned my bachelor’s degree in biology from Drexel University and subsequently pursued a medical degree from Temple School of Medicine. Following this, I completed my internal medicine training at St. Mary Medical Center and am now embarking on a Cardiology fellowship at Nazareth Hospital.

My professional interests lie in Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Critical Care Medicine, and I am eager to contribute to the well-being of the community that has nurtured me for the past decades.

Outside of medicine, I have a passion for travel and exploring diverse cultures, as well as a love for experiencing and savoring amazing cuisine.

Mary Atef Mishriky, MD

Hobbies/Interests: Reading, gardening, short story writing and family time!

Mary MishrikyI was born and lived in Egypt most of my life. A beautiful country indeed! I’ve wanted to become a doctor since as long as I can remember! I started medical school in 2007 and graduated in 2015 with honors. I studied medicine at Kasr Alainy, Cairo University, one of the top universities in Middle East and Africa.

A new chapter began when I started my cardiology residency and later fellowship at Cairo University Hospital. The experience was very enriching, fulfilling and educational on so many levels.

Along the way I started a family with my husband and our precious beloved boy ‘Amir’. We felt we wanted to grow more professionally and personally so we sought to start practicing medicine in the United States. I was lucky to start my journey in Nazareth Hospital as an IM resident and now I feel very grateful and excited to start my fellowship here among the people I’ve come to respect and love in the past few years.

I’ve also grown to love Philadelphia with its beautiful springs, delicious cuisines and even the snowy winters! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family. You will find us always hanging around kid places—museums, zoos, parks!

Sahar Memar Montazerin, MD

Sahar MontazerinI was born and raised in Iran, where I earned my medical degree from Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. After graduating, I had the privilege of working as an emergency physician and general practitioner in an underserved region of my country, providing care to patients with limited access to medical resources.

Driven to expand my academic horizons, I moved to the United States to strengthen my research skills. I had the opportunity to work under the mentorship of Dr. Gibson at the WikiDoc Foundation and contributed as an author to Cardiology Now News, where I engaged with the latest developments in cardiovascular medicine. Later, I joined the AngioCore Lab at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as a cardiac CT analyst, which deepened my passion for cardiology.

In 2022, I began my internal medicine residency at Saint Michael’s Medical Center, a program that allowed me to refine my clinical skills and grow as a medical educator within a collaborative and supportive environment. I am now honored to continue my journey as a cardiology fellow at the prestigious Nazareth Hospital, where I hope to advance patient care in underserved communities while broadening my research experience and clinical exposure.

After my fellowship, I aspire to pursue a career in academic cardiology with a focus on heart failure and cardiac imaging, combining clinical excellence, research and teaching to improve outcomes for patients.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time in nature, running and jogging, cooking Persian cuisine, and exploring foods from around the world.

Daniel Pak, MD

Daniel PakI was born in sunny California and while I always will consider it my home, I've since found my life becoming more and more established here on the East Coast. After a life-forming journey through multiple countries, most recently the country (not the state!) of Georgia, I returned to the United States to begin my medical training.

I completed my internal medicine residency at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne. I had a privilege to rotate with multiple cardiology faculty there, and after spending two weeks at Nazareth realized that it was a very robust program, filled with attendings and seniors whom I had worked with and respected.

I have yet to decide what lies beyond fellowship for me, and I’m pretty evenly split between general cardiology and electrophysiology!

In my spare time, I enjoy playing sports, spending time with my wife and my church buddies, and trying to perfect my cinnamon rolls.

Vibhor Ahluwalia, MD

Vibhor AhluwaliaMedical School: Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, India
Hobbies/Interests: Gym, running, cooking, traveling, philosophy

Having grown up in India and trained in both India and the United States, I’ve enjoyed every step of my journey in medicine and am excited to now pursue cardiology. I’m particularly interested in Electrophysiology and Interventional Cardiology, drawn to the combination of technology, physiology, and hands-on problem solving.

Outside the hospital, I’m usually at the gym, out for a run, experimenting in the kitchen, or looking for a new place to eat. I enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors, and having good conversations about everything from medicine to philosophy. I’m always up for a new adventure, a great meal or a good laugh with friends.

Balaphanidhar Mogga, MD

Balaphanidhar MoggaI was born and raised in Vizag, India, and completed my medical education at Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute in Chennai, graduating in 2018. I later moved to the United States and completed my Internal Medicine residency at Quinnipiac University Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine/St. Vincent’s Medical Center within Hartford HealthCare in Connecticut.

Following residency, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue an Advanced Cardiac Imaging Fellowship at The Lundquist Institute at UCLA, where I developed interest in coronary CT angiography and its applications in cardiovascular care. I subsequently moved to Philadelphia to continue my training as a Cardiology Fellow at Nazareth Hospital.

What initially drew me to Nazareth was the degree of autonomy afforded to fellows, something that stood out to me during my interview. I was equally impressed by the program’s strong clinical exposure, procedural experience and supportive faculty.
I am interested in interventional cardiology and expanding the role of CCTA in interventional cardiology, particularly how coronary imaging can help guide procedural planning and decision making.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with my wife and friends, working out, decorating my apartment, taking long drives, gaming on PlayStation, and exploring highly ranked pizza spots from One Bite, with Colony Grill currently my personal favorite.

Aliaa Mousa, MD

Aliaa MousaI was born and raised in Egypt, where I graduated from Kasr Al-Ainy School of Medicine, Cairo University, and began my journey in cardiology at the National Heart Institute in Cairo. I later moved to the United States, completed my Internal Medicine residency, and pursued advanced training in cardiovascular imaging at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

I am very excited to continue this journey as a cardiology fellow at Nazareth Hospital. I am especially interested in cardiovascular imaging, heart failure and research, and I hope to build a career that allows me to combine these interests with caring for patients and teaching future physicians.

Outside of medicine, my favorite role is being a mom to my two boys. I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, reading, exploring new places, and finding fun adventures for my kids. After moving through different countries and cities throughout my training, I am excited to call the Philadelphia area home and to become part of the Nazareth community.
