Computed Tomography (CT) Scans

Two multidetector CT scanners in the Medical Imaging Department provide fast, high-resolution imaging of the entire body. CT is used in the evaluation of pain, masses, trauma as well as many other medical problems. Our 64-slice CT scanner can image all areas of the body, but its greatest utility is in the area of CT angiography (CTA).

This is a non-invasive technique that is used to evaluate the vascular system of the body, including the coronary arteries of the heart, with great accuracy. Coronary CTA is an alternative to conventional catheter based coronary angiography. This study is performed in a single breath hold, consisting of five heart beats. Also available are CT-guided biopsies and interventions.
