Wilmington, Del. – (June 9, 2020) – Saint Francis Hospital has received Certification in Hip Replacement and Knee Replacement from The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (The Joint Commission), an independent organization that works toward continuous quality improvement, and accredits and certifies healthcare organizations nationally.

This certification reflects Saint Francis Hospital’s ability to provide clinically excellent care for hip and knee replacement according to the latest clinical practice guidelines. It recognizes Saint Francis Hospital's commitment to providing the highest quality of care for hip replacement and knee replacement.

These accreditations reflect the comprehensive continuum of care at Saint Francis, which includes patient education, consultation in the preoperative through postoperative stages of care, and shared decision-making and consistent communication among medical professionals, patients and their caregivers, in addition to clinical care rooted in evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.

The Joint Commission announced the distinction after conducting an onsite survey of multiple departments at Saint Francis.

“We are pleased to receive these certifications from one of the nation’s foremost authorities on quality and clinical excellence – The Joint Commission,” said Daniel J. Sinnott, president and CEO of Saint Francis Hospital. “We are proud to offer compassionate and high-quality care for hip and knee replacement, which includes leading edge, less-invasive surgical options to help our patients return home and heal more quickly.
