Calculate your BMI

Your body mass index (BMI) plays an important role in determining whether you might be eligible for medication management or bariatric surgery.

  • If your BMI is below 29.9, you won’t qualify for medication management or surgery.
  • With a BMI between 30.0 to 34.9, you may qualify for medication management only.
  • If your BMI is between 35.0 to 39.9, you could qualify for medication or surgery, depending on additional risk factors such as diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea or a history of weight-loss surgery.
  • For a BMI of 40.0 and above, bariatric surgery is a recommended option.
