Langhorne, Pa. – (April 18, 2022) – St. Mary Medical Center recently presented a DAISY® Award to Diana Bruck, RN, from Cardiopulmonary Rehab.
Diana was nominated for this prestigious award by a patient who needed a long course of cardiopulmonary rehab after two consecutive procedures. The patient described Diana’s compassion, empathy, selflessness and consistency of care over many months. From the very first visit, Diana took the time to know her patient, offered concern and friendship, and helped her feel at ease by sharing personal stories.
“She was a constant bright light of encouragement,” the patient said. “Since childhood, daisies have been my favorite flower. [They are] smiling, friendly and beautiful. Diana has been a daisy in my life.”
The DAISY Award is a program that recognizes excellence in nursing. It was created by The DAISY Foundation to highlight the clinical skills, extraordinary passion and care exemplified by nurses every day. Award recipients consistently demonstrate each of the award’s criteria of Dedicated, Autonomous, Innovative, Selfless and Extraordinary.
Diana joined St. Mary Medical Center in late August 2021, and just five months later stepped up to the fill a key role as clinical team lead in Cardiopulmonary Rehab. She has touched many lives over her well-rounded career, having worked as a health coach, a transplant coordinator, a cardiology nurse navigator, and in the Emergency Department.
Diana’s manager, David Dolt, MSN, RN, CCRN, says that she is a wonderful and deserving recipient of this award, and quoted Diana’s own words—shared with him shortly after taking on her new role in Cardiopulmonary Rehab. “She said, ‘I was so lucky to have the opportunity to join the Cardiopulmonary Rehab team back in August, and I look forward to collaborating with the team, the patients and all of you!’”
