Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital receives PCI Reaccreditation from Corazon; Nazareth designated Center of Excellence

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. (Sept. 25, 2026) – Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic’s Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia and Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby were both granted Corazon reaccreditation for their percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) programs. Additionally, Corazon designated Nazareth Hospital as a Corazon Heart & Vascular Center of Excellence for its electrophysiology, PCI and chest pain programs.

Also known as coronary angioplasty, PCI is a minimally invasive procedure that uses cardiac catheterization to open narrowed or blocked coronary arteries and improve blood flow to the heart. PCI may be performed to relieve symptoms of coronary artery disease, such as chest pain (angina), or to reduce heart damage during a heart attack.

Through a rigorous process that engages multidisciplinary teams across both hospitals, reaccreditation demonstrates that Nazareth Hospital and Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital’s PCI programs have met or exceeded Corazon’s accreditation standards, national societal guidelines, and the requirements established by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
