Jess TranDarby, Pa. — (April 9, 2025) — Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital recently presented a DAISY® Award to Jessica Tran, RN, a nurse in the progressive care unit (PCU).

Tran was nominated for this prestigious award by a nurse aide in the PCU for “demonstrating what it is to service with compassion.” Tran is “always professional, caring and kind to her patients,” says the colleague who nominated her, and she “leaves a lasting impact on those she cares for and works with, especially within the PCU.”

The DAISY Award is a program that recognizes excellence in nursing. It was created by The DAISY Foundation to highlight the clinical skills, extraordinary passion and care exemplified by nurses every day. Award recipients consistently demonstrate each of the award’s criteria of dedicated, autonomous, innovative, selfless and extraordinary.

Tran joined Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital as an aide in October 2020 and moved into an RN position in March 2023. She is a respectful and professional nurse who is always attentive to her patients’ needs.

Tran’s manager, Thomas Gallo, says that Tran is a true patient advocate and deserving recipient of this award. “Jess’ patients know her name, trust her word and know they are not alone,” says Gallo. “She’s also a team player who often checks on her fellow nurses and nurse aides, offering help and support in whatever way she can.”
