Gerald Wydro, MD, named Chief Medical Officer of St. Mary Medical Center and Nazareth Hospital

Newtown Square, Pa. – (February 9, 2026) – Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic is pleased to announce the appointment of Gerald Wydro, MD, as chief medical officer of St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, Pa., and Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia. In this role, Dr. Wydro will provide clinical leadership, oversee quality and safety initiatives and guide the hospitals’ ongoing efforts to deliver exceptional, compassionate care for the community.
Dr. Wydro joins Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic from Jefferson Health, where he served as chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Jefferson Health Northeast in Philadelphia. At Jefferson, Dr. Wydro oversaw clinical operations of three emergency departments, staffed by over 100 emergency clinicians, treating more than 120,000 patients annually. Prior to his time at Jefferson, Dr. Wydro accrued more than 25 years of experience in clinical leadership, academic service and direct care emergency medicine throughout the Philadelphia region.
Dr. Wydro, originally from Levittown, Pa., has lived in the St. Mary and Nazareth communities for many years.

Dr. Wydro completed his education and medical training in Philadelphia. He earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Holy Family University and his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in emergency medicine and an EMS fellowship at the Medical College of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Wydro is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical Services. He serves as the regional EMS medical director for Bucks County and is the ALS service medical director for 911 and inter-facility ambulance services in the region. He also serves as chair of the Bucks County Board of Health, is a member of the Bucks County Emergency Health Services Council and sits on the Board of Trustees of Holy Family University. Dr. Wydro has been an EMS provider for over 39 years, volunteering with the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad since 1986.
Along with his wife and three daughters, Dr. Wydro resides in Langhorne, Pa.
