Message from the Program Director

Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to learn more about Nazareth Hospital’s Emergency Medicine Residency Program. I am incredibly excited to lead and continue building one of Philadelphia's newest and most dynamic residency programs. As an ACGME-accredited program, we are proud of the strong foundation we have established and even more excited about the future we are creating together.

Our mission is to train clinically exceptional emergency medicine physicians while fostering the communication, leadership, and professional skills necessary to thrive in today's healthcare environment. We are committed to developing well-rounded physicians who provide outstanding patient care, advocate for their communities, and become leaders within the specialty of Emergency Medicine.

As a growing program, we offer a unique opportunity for residents to play an active role in shaping their educational experience. Our residents are not merely learners within the program; they are critical partners in its growth and evolution. From curriculum development and educational initiatives to wellness programs and departmental innovation, resident voices are valued and have directly influenced many of the improvements we have implemented.

Some of our greatest strengths are our culture of collaboration, accessibility, and responsiveness. The core faculty and I are deeply committed to resident success and continuously seek feedback to ensure we are providing an exceptional training experience. Together, we have cultivated an environment that encourages continuous improvement, innovation, and open communication.

At Nazareth, residents receive individualized mentorship and support from a dedicated network of faculty, hospital leadership, nursing staff, advanced practice providers, and ancillary team members. The close-knit nature of our program allows us to invest personally in each resident's growth, helping them achieve their professional goals while navigating the challenges of residency training.

We believe in working hard, striving for excellence, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Emergency medicine demands resilience and dedication, but we are equally committed to resident wellness and creating an environment where our trainees can flourish both professionally and personally.

The ideal Nazareth emergency medicine resident is curious, compassionate, resilient and eager to embrace new challenges. They possess a spirit of adventure, a commitment to lifelong learning, and a desire to continuously improve themselves as physicians, teammates, and individuals. Most importantly, they are driven to provide exceptional care to every patient who entrusts us with their health.
