MCMC Diagnostic Radiology Program Update
The Mercy Catholic Medical Center (MCMC) Radiology Residency Program is proud of its record of a 100 percent board pass rate before residency completion for the last 13 years. We are one of the only programs in the area to claim such a high board pass rate. The training our residents receive at MCMC allows them to pursue careers in private practice and academic settings.
Our residency program is incredibly diverse—all current residents are international medical graduates from nine countries.
A few of our residents have moved into leadership and advocacy roles in various radiologic societies. For example, one of our current 4th-year residents served as a representative in the Residents and Fellows section of the Pennsylvania Radiological Society and attended the annual meeting of the American College of Radiology in Washington, D.C. This is the leading advocacy organization for radiologists in the United States.
The MCMC Radiology Residency Program recently expanded from one hospital (Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital) to all four Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic hospitals, including St. Mary Medical Center, Nazareth Hospital, and Saint Francis Hospital. Our faculty expanded to cover these additional hospitals. We are now a department of 27 radiologists and 10 residents. Expanding our services has increased the number, complexity, and variety of cases our residents see daily, which has increased the level and quality of their training.
As a result of this increased case volume and faculty expansion, we look forward to opportunities regarding program expansion—increasing the number of residents in the program—and sending our residents to all four hospitals to maximize their training experience.
