Senior Services at Nazareth Hospital

Our healthcare needs change as we grow older. Some seniors are on the go, some live with chronic conditions and some face serious illnesses. But at every stage of life, seniors can turn to Nazareth Hospital. Trust us to give you both excellent care and excellent caring.

At Nazareth, we touch nearly every aspect of a senior’s life. Our services include:

Emergency Care

With kindness and skill, our emergency department physicians, nurses and staff make you welcome, ease your mind and set you on the path to recovery. We provide person-centered care in a soothing environment with private rooms. Whether you are admitted to the hospital or discharged to home, we work together to make sure you have access to needed resources and follow-up when you leave.

Heart Health

Nazareth provides life-saving emergency angioplasty for patients suffering heart attacks and works with local emergency medical services on The LIFENET System. LIFENET allows EMS to send heart attack test results to the nearest emergency department. These results are read right away, so treatment can begin while you are on your way to the hospital, increasing your chances of a good outcome.

We received national accreditation for cardiac angioplasty for our cath lab. And we also have a Vein Center and a Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine. Our nationally certified Heart Failure Program offers comprehensive patient education and access to Telehealth technology to help patients with heart failure monitor their conditions and avoid readmission.

Nazareth Hospital and St. Mary Heart & Vascular have partnered to provide a comprehensive range of heart and vascular care. This partnership will offer you access to renowned interventional cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgery and electrophysiology programs.

Cancer Center

Mercy Cancer Center at Nazareth Hospital, a member of the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Network, offers a complete array of services to prevent, diagnose and treat every form of cancer—close to home. Treatment is provided by the area’s top cancer specialists for medical oncology and radiation therapy. Our new infusion suite provides a calm and soothing environment for treatment.

Medical Imaging

At Nazareth's Medical Imaging Department, highly trained radiologists and skilled techs use state-of-the-art equipment to help diagnose medical conditions quickly and accurately. In addition to new MRI and PET/CT technology, 64-slice CT scanners and digital mammography, Nazareth offers ultrasound, nuclear medicine, interventional radiology, mammography, and non-invasive imaging, as well as traditional X-ray. All our imaging modalities are accredited by the American College of Radiology.

Primary Stroke Center

Nazareth Hospital is an award-winning and nationally certified Primary Stroke Center. Evidence-based, consistently excellent and delivered with respect, our stroke care program offers each of our patients a chance at a superior outcome: quick diagnostics, emergency treatment, specialty nursing care, nationally accredited acute rehab and outpatient therapy.

Outpatient Therapy and the Balance Program

Our outpatient Center for Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation and Balance helps seniors optimize function and stay mobile. In our balance program, specially trained physical therapists use computer technology to check your balance, then design a treatment plan just for you. Your plan may include education, balance retraining exercises and physical therapy to help you increase your strength, stamina and mobility.

Nationally Certified Hip and Knee Replacement

Nazareth Hospital delivers consistently excellent and award-winning total joint replacement care and is nationally certified by The Joint Commission.

Acute Rehab Program

Offering comprehensive 24-hour care, including physical, occupational and speech therapies, our Acute Rehab Program is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Our nursing staff has special certification in rehab care.

Skilled Nursing

Nazareth Hospital offers a Transitional Care Unit for patients who do not qualify or cannot tolerate the intense rehabilitation services offered in our Acute Rehabilitation Program. This 28-bed unit allows patients to receive medically supervised therapy by highly trained physical, occupational and speech therapists in a comfortable, friendly setting. This unit is designed to provide medical, nursing and therapy services to patients to help them “transition” back to their prior living arrangements whenever possible.

Health Education and Screenings

Nazareth’s active Community Outreach Department offers free education and screenings throughout our community, including Dine with the Doc programs and free screenings.

Care Coordination

We take the stress out of accessing healthcare, by helping you schedule appointments, educating you about your health conditions and treatment options, and by linking you with needed resources.

Coordination with Your Primary Care Physician

Our staff keeps your doctor up-to-date on your tests, procedures and plan of care. Need a physician? We can help you find the right one for you and for your family.
