Nazareth Hospital offers a categorical (three-year) residency in Internal Medicine. Our academic year is broken down to four week blocks on average. Every rotation is supervised by a member of the faculty.

In our categorical residency program, we strive to train young physicians who are interested in pursuing careers in hospital medicine, outpatient medicine, or a medical subspecialty. Program leaders and faculty work with residents to develop individual learning paths.

Our three-year program includes dedicated time in patient floors, ICU, ambulatory clinic, and transitional care unit. Residents in teams consisting of a faculty member, senior resident, PGY1, and student have primary responsibility over the care of patients on their service. Before graduating from the program members of the team progressively assume more responsibility in patient care, teaching and leadership until they reach the skills of a seasoned clinician.
