Recipe: Healthy Tuna Salad


Tuna salad½ cup (about ½ can) tuna fish, no salt added, water packed
2 tbsp. balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp. red wine vinegar
1 tbsp. diced shallots
2 tsp. fresh dill
½ tsp. Dijon mustard
1/8 tsp. sea salt
1/8 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
1 cup lettuce leaves
1 small Roma tomato, sliced
½ small cucumber, sliced
2 baby carrots, sliced
1 tbsp. very thinly sliced bell pepper (green or red)


  1. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together tuna, vinegars, shallots, dill, mustard, salt, and pepper. 
  2. Divide lettuce, tomato, cucumber, carrots, and peppers between two bowls. 
  3. Divide tuna mixture on top of salad.

Makes two servings. A serving is ½ salad. Each serving provides: 90 calories, 0.5 g fat (0 g saturated fat, 0 g trans fat), 15 mg cholesterol, 210 mg sodium, 7 g carbohydrates, 5 g sugar, 1 g fiber, and 12 g protein.
