Caregivers need time to unwind

Caring for an elderly loved one can be rewarding.

caregiver and parentIt can also be overwhelming, so it is important to remember to take care of yourself, too. Finding time for leisure activities can help you stay mentally and physically healthy.

Care and share: At LIFE’s monthly support group meetings, caregivers share ideas, hear presenters and participate in fun activities.

Be active: Walk, bike, stretch or dance to get a boost of energy. Yard work, gardening or playing with pets can help you keep your mind clear and your body strong.

Great escape: Do something you enjoy that keeps your mind active. A crossword puzzle, a good book or even a favorite TV show can help to reinvigorate you.

Stay in touch: It is important to stay connected to friends and family. Take a break by calling a loved one or by meeting a friend for a cup of coffee.
