Emergency Services

The Mercy Catholic Medical Center – Mercy Philadelphia Campus Emergency Care Center serves 48,000 patients annually, making it one of the busiest emergency departments in the city of Philadelphia. Mercy Philadelphia’s 2019 Expansion and Renovation project gives our Emergency Care Center separate entrances for ambulance patients and “walk-in” patients, with comfortable waiting and family support rooms. 33 spacious and modern treatment rooms are now available, as well as on-site X-ray equipment and advanced imaging needs. Mercy Philadelphia provides state-of-the-art monitoring and resuscitation for all medical conditions.

Staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and specially trained emergency nurses, the department provides rapid and quality care for both minor and major emergencies.

Our Emergency Room and Specialized Stroke Unit are focused on providing rapid diagnosis and use the treatments and guidelines developed by the American Stroke Association to treat stroke patients. Mercy Philadelphia’s stroke program has been recognized by the American Stroke Association as a “Silver Award Winner.”

Mercy Philadelphia’s Emergency Services also features a Fast Track program for non-emergent care. Fast Track is designed to efficiently treat lower-acuity Emergency Department patients quickly.
