Message from the Department Chair

Dr. RamachandraPrashanth Ramachandra, MD

Congratulations on your choice of surgery as a profession and thank you for your interest in the training program at Mercy Catholic Medical Center. The coming years in your life will be filled with great reward and great challenge.

Mercy Catholic Medical Center has a long and storied history of educating surgical residents. Our faculty is committed to assisting you in becoming a well-rounded surgeon, well versed in the literature and able to tackle the most difficult of scenarios. Throughout the program’s existence we have trained residents to grow into not only technically gifted practitioners but also critically-thinking, caring leaders of their fields.

In addition to the training you will find here, you will find an unmatched camaraderie between not only our residents but also between our faculty and house staff. I invite you to join us for a day and witness how our residents live and work. They are a group of exceptional young men and women who support one another not only in all aspects of residency but also in all aspects of life outside of the hospital.

Further, we have a support staff of nurses, technicians and administrators who are all partners in resident education. Mercy is truly an excellent place to work.

As you contemplate where to spend the years of your surgical training, I hope you come to realize how much Mercy has to offer. Please take a moment and browse our site, get to know our residents and faculty and please feel free to contact our program with any questions.
