Mark Lewis Named a 2017 HIE Champion by HSX

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA (November 15, 2017): Mercy Accountable Care, LLC’s Senior Data and Quality Analyst, Mark E. Lewis, MPH, has been named a 2017 HIE Champion for HSX by HealthShare Exchange (HSX), the Philadelphia region's health information exchange (HIE). Lewis accepted his award at a ceremony at the Union League of Philadelphia on November 14.

“I am truly humbled, honored, and extremely appreciative of the consideration,” said Lewis. “Both data and analytics are only useful if you can make a connection with your intended audience, so that they become meaningful. I keep the utility aspect is always top of mind, and is what spurs providers to action.

This then leads to closing care gaps, facilitated transitions in care, and ultimately better outcomes for the patients. With data provided by HSX, we now have a more complete picture of our patients’ health care and can more appropriately intervene. In the long term, I think this will greatly improve overall satisfaction and confidence in our health care system.”

HSX provides a way to securely transmit electronic medical record (EMR) data of different hospital health systems, medical centers, and clinics — and the claims data of healthcare insurers — and makes this information accessible at inpatient and outpatient points of care, including medical practice offices. Its purpose is to promote continuity of care by reducing duplication, improving access to critical information and alerting alert care providers to care events.

“We at Mercy Accountable Care are very proud of Mark and his leadership in making data accessible and meaningful for our participating physicians, so we can succeed in providing the patients we serve together with better care and smoother transitions at a lower cost,” said Daniel L. Bair, MHA, FACHE, Executive Director of Mercy Accountable Care, LLC.
