Celebrating Life at Nazareth on National Cancer Survivors Day
Northeast Philadelphia (June 13, 2019): On June 2, current and former cancer patients reunited with their doctors, nurses and other caregivers for a celebration of National Cancer Survivors Day held at Nazareth Hospital. The event, titled “Keys to Survivorship,” drew dozens of cancer survivors and community members, who received T-shirts and other gifts to celebrate their accomplishments.
Nazareth Hospital’s Cancer Survivors Day committee – chaired by Terrie Cannon, BSN, RN, OCN, oncology nurse navigator, and Betty L. McLaughlin, radiation therapy supervisor – has hosted the event for over 20 years.
“We are empowered to see how life after cancer for our patients is more than just surviving. It is about living well,” said Michael Magro, Jr., DO, MBA, FACOI, President of Nazareth Hospital. “We provide compassionate care to our community members who have conquered cancer to help them live long and happy lives.”
National Cancer Survivors Day is an annual worldwide celebration of life. Participants unite in this event to show the world that life after a cancer diagnosis can be a reality.
