Mercy Catholic Medical Center Announces Dr. Trina Abla as CMO

Philadelphia — (October 14, 2019) — Mercy Catholic Medical Center, part of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is proud to announce Trina Abla, DO, MBA, as new chief medical officer (CMO). By assuming this role, Dr. Abla will manage hospital budgets, recruiting and training healthcare physicians, ensuring safety standards and delivering the highest quality of medical care.

“I’m delighted to welcome Dr. Trina Abla as Mercy Catholic Medical Center’s new CMO,” said Christopher Cullom, president of Mercy Catholic Medical Center. “Her experience, enthusiasm and leadership will further establish Mercy Catholic Medical Center as a compassionate and transforming healing presence within the community.”

Before joining Mercy Catholic Medical Center, Dr. Abla served as chief quality officer and associate chief medical officer at Penn State Health St. Joseph in Reading, Pa., where she also served as hospitalist and medical director for palliative care.

Dr. Abla previously served as associate medical director for AseraCare Hospice in Allentown, Pa. She also served as a family physician for Genesis Primary Care in Sinking Spring, Pa.

Dr. Abla received her medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2005. She completed her residency in family medicine at Saint Joseph’s Medical Center, where she also served as the chief resident. She also earned her MBA from Saint Joseph’s University in 2019. She is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, as well as the Pennsylvania Medical Society.

In her new role, Dr. Abla reports directly to Christopher Cullom, president of Mercy Catholic Medical Center.
