Dr. Codella is 2015 Dr. Stanley J. Skromak Award Recipient
NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA, PA (March 24, 2015): Mark S. Codella, MD, Chairman of the Department of Medicine for Nazareth Hospital and gastroenterologist with Fox Chase Gastroenterology, received the Dr. Stanley J. Skromak Award at Nazareth’s Doctors’ Day Celebration. This award is presented annually to a Nazareth Hospital physician who exemplifies dedication to the medical profession, fosters medical education, demonstrates exemplary patient/physician interaction, shows courtesy and respect towards everyone, and who is a true “doctor’s doctor.” The 2014 recipient was Stuart A. Scherr, MD.
Dr. Codella is a graduate of Hahnemann University School of Medicine, which is also where he completed his internship, residency and fellowship in Gastroenterology. Dr. Codella joined the staff of Nazareth in 1989.
The award is named for Dr. Stanley J. Skromak, one of the founding physicians at Nazareth Hospital, and Medical Staff President during the 1960s. Dr. Skromak was noted for his medical knowledge and friendly approach to his patients.
